Unpaid community service is a kind of social obligation. It is our responsibility as a responsible citizen to help others in their time of need. Including unpaid community service in high school programme will develop a sense of awareness among the youth. Students will learn to assist the needy and deserving through this service so such exercises should be included in the high school curriculum.

There are many kinds of unpaid community services that can be delivered. For instance, a neighbor can be helped if needed. This kind of services can be environmental in nature. For example, students may be planting more and more trees to combat pollution. Students can perform street cleaning tasks on weekends. Coordinated efforts can be done clean some areas for that purpose students can create awareness in the general public to do the needful. Helping the injured can be another kind of unpaid community service. Students must be taught special courses on how to help the injured in the first place. They can also help underprivileged students so that they must not feel deprived while sitting in class. For example, they can arrange for their dues, stationery charges, etc. For this purpose, funds can be collected from the community. Also, there should be arrangements for the disbursement of these funds to ensure public trust.

Moreover, there should be proper training sessions at the high school level. For Instance, proper first aid methods should be taught. Students must learn how to help others in times of natural calamities like earthquakes, flooding, or in case of any other disaster. In such situations, the government machinery is sometimes insufficient to perform timely relief so unpaid community workers would mean a lot in emergency conditions.

Unpaid Community Service is inevitable in high schools because it will not only make youth responsive but also instill kindness, brotherhood, compassion, work-activeness, and spirit to help other countrymen. Also, this would promote a soft corner among the people about their fellow citizens setting aside da to day unnecessary quarrels. Unpaid community services would engage the young generation in the overall betterment of society. Due to this students would realize that they can do a lot to improve the lives of people. Above all, this will help in educating the students morally.

Conclusively, unpaid community services must be made essential for a high school program so that collective efforts for the betterment of the community can bring good change. It is said that just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Likewise, one small good work can change someone for good so do good and have good.
